The Energy Institute and the CHPA, along with their Event Managers SE2 Ltd, have taken every step to ensure that Heat 2014 is as sustainable as possible, and that negative environmental impacts are minimised.

The event has been managed in line with the recommendations made by the British Standard for Sustainable Event Management (BS8901). This includes:

  • Using electronic communications wherever possible and printing all delegate materials on recycled paper. We are using an electronic booking system and presentations from the Conference will be available online after the event to reduce the need for printing.
  • Requesting sustainable catering options, including Fairtrade coffee, items with minimal packaging, no bottled water and food produced in accordance with accredited farming methods.
  • Selecting a venue easily accessible by public transport, with recycling facilities and a robust environmental policy.

 Unavoidable carbon emissions have been offset by SE2 with Pure.
